Olympic medalist and Christie patient Steve Parry is taking part in the inaugural British Gas Great Salford Swim in aid of The Christie, the leading cancer centre where he was treated.

Supermodel and British Gas ambassador Jodie Kidd has really caught the swimming bug.
Jodie, a well known personality in the UK and further afield following her TV appearances on Strictly Come Dancing and Top Gear, hadn’t done any outdoor swimming until she signed up for the 2010 British Gas Great London Swim.
The British Gas Great Swim Series is becoming part of a world network of big outdoor swimming events.
Jodie, well known for her TV appearances on Strictly Come Dancing and Top Gear, took on the one-mile open water challenge along with 5,000 other swimmers at the Royal Victoria Dock near the ExCel centre in London’s East End.
The star-studded British Gas Great London Swim has attracted a bumper field of 5,000 swimmers – an amazing five times last year’s inaugural entry.
Entries are now closed for this year’s British Gas Great East Swim following a record number of registrations.

Tuesday, 11th May 2010 – The British Gas Great Swim Series 2010 officially launches today, with Jodie Kidd and David Davies launching the series of five open water swimming events, kicking off this year in Suffolk on 19th June and ending in Salford on 26th September.
