We want you to enjoy your open water swimming.
But it’s important to remember that you will not be the only person using a particular stretch of water.
That’s why it’s important to always think about other water users – as well as those on the land nearby.
Always be considerate, polite and courteous when out swimming – and ensure that you do not litter, trespass, pollute, provoke conflict with others (such as anglers, watersports enthusiasts or watercraft users), or unduly disturb or abuse wildlife.
Swimmers are solely responsible for their own safety and so it’s important to be fully prepared for any venture into open water.
That means doing your homework on the safety of the stretch of open water you have in mind.
If you are in any doubt about the safety of a swim or your ability to complete it, you should not take part.
See the Outdoor Swimming Advice section of this website for more information on how to stay safe.
