Why I Swim

Let us know why YOU love to swim and be in with a chance of winning an amazing holiday to New Zealand and entry into the annual Auckland Harbour Crossing open water swim, courtesy of the State New Zealand Ocean Swim Series.

In just four years the British Gas Great Swim Series has grown from around 3,000 swimmers to nearly 25,000– that’s a lot of people who love to swim!

How it Works

We want to know what motivates you to swim - are you taking a step towards a healthier lifestyle? Is getting out in the open water your ultimate stress buster? Are you taking on the challenge of a Great Swim to raise money for a worthy cause?

We’re looking for short videos (90 seconds or less) answering the simple question “Why I Swim”.

Feel free to be as creative or as simple as you like - shoot it on your lap top, mobile phone or hand held camera – don’t worry about the production values – we just want to hear your story!

The video submissions will be narrowed down to ten finalists by a panel of judges, the Great Swim Community will then be asked to vote for the overall winner.

The 2.9km State Harbour Crossing Swim 2013 see’s all marine traffic in the country’s busiest port suspended as thousands of swimmers take on the course starting at Quinton Park, Bayswater and ending at the Karanga Plaza, Viaduct Harbour.

Organised by one of New Zealand's most well-respected events' companies Quantum Events, the Auckland Harbour Crossing is one of six events in the exciting State New Zealand Ocean Swim Series, taking place on some of the most beautiful beachfronts and waterfronts in the world.

10 finalists will be picked by a panel of judges and the great swim community will be asked to vote for the overall winner in October.

Plus, each month a random winner will be picked to win a goodybag from our official kit partners Aquasphere

So what are you waiting for?!
