Am doing well in the pool with breaststroke and plan to do whole swim breaststroke. Issue is ... having tried with wetsuit on it is practically impossible to keep legs low enough to kick so I managed 600m arms only but doubt I will make a mile this way. Plus the different body position is not great on lower back. Would it help if I cut a few inches off the legs?

I had the same problem. Went back to square one and started training in crawl. Someone posted on here to try doing a butterfly leg with breaststroke arms and that works well. Must say I haven't tried it, because my arms tired to quickly doing breaststroke in the wetsuit. Good luck with whatever you try

I do breaststroke, have had similar problems, and have come out of the water with backache after longer swims. It's better in a shortie suit, so cutting your wetsuit legs might help. I also concentrate on kicking downwards more than I would in a pool. Have searched the net for advice on this, most of which seems to be "learn crawl" but have been swimming in a wetsuit every week this summer and can now comfortably do 2K+, so keep on practising and it might come right!
